Interventional cardiologists are highly specialized cardiologists who focus on diagnosing and treating cardiovascular diseases and structural heart problems through catheter-based procedures, such as angioplasty and stenting. They work in high-tech environments, often in hospital catheterization labs, where they perform minimally invasive procedures to open blocked arteries, repair or replace faulty heart valves, and treat other complex heart conditions without the need for open-heart surgery. Their work requires a high level of expertise in cardiovascular anatomy, imaging technologies, and the manual skills necessary for performing intricate procedures.
